Michael "Mike" Charles Smith, age 68, of Westminster, Maryland, died peacefully on Friday, April 3, 2015 at his residential care home. Born September 2, 1946 in Baltimore, Maryland, he was the son of the late Fern L. and Gertrude C. (Armacost) Smith. Mikey as he was affectionately known, was awarded with several special achievements over the years from the ARC of Carroll County and Chimes. In 1999 he was resident of the year, in 2006 he was presented with grateful appreciation for your outstanding support of people with disabilities, in 2007 outstanding achievement for attending all doctor's appointments for 1 year; and commemorated for 25 years of service with Summer Enterprises. He worked as an assembly line worker for both Black & Decker and Walmart. Though Michael Charles Smith was considered disabled, one thing is for sure, Mike was our greatest teacher of unconditional love & acceptance, reaching as low as his old pony and as high as JESUS his creator. Lest we forget Michaels wisdom and love inspired everyone he met, especially his nieces and nephews. Surviving Mikey are his twin sister, Margaret "Marge" Wickes of Finksburg; sister, Helen Lynn Richardson of Gettysburg; brother, Randolph Scott Smith and wife Sara of Purcellville, VA; nieces and nephews, Beth Weisenborn, Ian and Leah Wickes, Lauren Fenlon, Caitlin, Caleb, and Scotty Smith; and many great-nieces and great-nephews. He was predeceased by a brother-in-laws, Gordon Wickes and Clay Richardson. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 11, 2015 at the Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 91 Willis St., Westminster, MD with Rev. Herb Ruby officiating.
