Michael T. Sciarretta Jr., 89, of Hampstead died Wednesday, May 23, 2012, at Carroll Hospice's Dove House in Westminster.

Born Dec. 21, 1922, in Baltimore, he was the son of the late Michael T. Sciarretta Sr. and Marie Perrotti Sciarretta. He was the husband of Dolores M. Hansen Sciarretta, who died in 2011.

He served as a private first class in the Army from 1943 until 1946 and was a veteran of World War II. He participated in the Battle of the Bulge, where he was awarded the Purple Heart. He had been employed by Baltimore Cigarette Company as a route supervisor.

He was a communicant of St. Bartholomew Roman Catholic Church in Manchester.

Surviving are son and daughter-in-law Michael T. and Dale Sciarretta, of Gettysburg, Pa.; daughter and son-in-law Laurie and Tom Paparounis, of Hampstead; and grandchildren Sara, Natalie, Kristen, Troy and Trent.

The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Eline Funeral Home, 934 S. Main St., Hampstead.

A Requiem Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Bartholomew Roman Catholic Church, 2930 Hanover Pike, Manchester, with the Rev. Michael Roach as celebrant. Interment will be held at 10:45 a.m. Friday, June 1 in Garrison Forest Veterans Cemetery in Owings Mills.
