Mildred A. (Warner) Mays walked into the arms of her Savior, Jesus Christ at the age of 85 on Saturday, January 16, 2016 at the Brethren Home Community, New Oxford to be reunited with her loved ones who went before her. Born August 22, 1930 on the homestead farm in Silver Run, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Clarence and Ruth (Brumgard) Warner. "Millie" was the beloved wife of the late Carroll T. Mays for 61 years, who passed away in January 2012. She also was preceded in death, by her much-loved son, Thomas Mays in 2014; her sister, Evelyn (Warner) Wantz of Hanover, and her brother, Nevin Warner of Gettysburg. Millie began working hard on the farm during the depression years and carried on that solid work ethic throughout her life, with cleaning houses, working at Sylvania Shoe for 10 years, operating the "french stitch" machine at "piece rates," and ended her working days at R.H. Sheppard at the age of 70, after 29 years of being one of their best inspectors on the gear line. Millie had a kind, gentle, and giving spirit, which flowed over onto all who ever had the pleasure of meeting her. She is survived by her daughter, Dianna (Mays-Orndorff) Boehm and husband Bruce of Ocean View, DE, her two much adored grandchildren: Joshua B. Redding and his wife Emily in Blacksburg, VA; Taylor (Redding) Wilson and her husband Matthew, in Williamsport, MD, seven delightful great-grandchildren who filled her life with pure joy: Elijah, Judah, Micah and Noah Wilson; Miriam, Silas and Titus Redding. She is also survived by her beloved sister Doris (Warner) Zumbrum and sister-in-law Margret (Mays) Duncan, both of Hanover; brothers, Donald Warner of Hampstead and Glenn Warner and his wife Cindy of Marysville, CA. Millie was blessed to have abundant nieces and nephews whom she held deep affections for. A funeral service to celebrate her life will be held at 11 AM, Tuesday, January 19, 2016 at the Kenworthy Funeral Home, Inc., 269 Frederick Street, Hanover, PA with her pastor, Rev. Scott Brown officiating. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery, Hanover, PA. Viewings and time to share memories with the family will be held from 6-8 PM, Monday, January 18, 2016 and from 10-11 AM, Tuesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Millie may be made to The Good Samaritan Fund at The Brethren Home, 2990 Carlisle Pike, New Oxford, PA 17350.
