Mildred Beatrice Hansen, 89, of Westminster, died Sunday, Dec. 15, 2013, at Carroll Hospital Center.

Born Dec. 22, 1923, in Manchester, she was the daughter of the late William and Edna Ensor Hare. She was the wife of Harold Hansen, who died Jan. 7, 1986.

After a career change, she became a nurse's assistant at Carroll Hospital Center for more than 30 years. She worked in patient care in the med/surgical, pediatric, nursery, emergency, pulmonary care and critical care departments. She had more than 900 hours of volunteer work per year at the hospital. She also worked as a private duty nurse after leaving the hospital.

She enjoyed cooking, baking, reading, traveling and listening to the Navy Band perform when she was in Annapolis.

Surviving are daughter and son-in-law Joan B. and Martin Spalding, of Owings Mills; sons and daughter-in-law Jim H. and Marcella Hansen, of Selbyville, Del., and Carl M. Hansen, of Ocean City; a sister, Hilda Hann, of Manchester; and grandson and wife Jeffrey A. and Karin Hansen, of Whaleyville.

She was predeceased by a brother, Ervin Hare.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Pritts Funeral Home & Chapel, 412 Washington Road, Westminster.

Visitation will also be held from 11:30 a.m. until the time of serivce, 12:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with Chaplain Ann Schlossnagle, of Carroll Hospice, officiating. Please use the chapel entrance. Interment will be in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Manchester.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the Carroll Hospital Center Stroke Program, 200 Memorial Ave., Westminster, MD 21157.
