Mildred Catherine Glass, age 90 of Sykesville, died Tuesday, June 13, 2017 at Brinton Woods Nursing Center in Sykesville. Born August 4, 1926 in Ridgeville, Maryland, she was the daughter of the the late Agnes Hoffmaster Wetzel Burdette and the late John Burdette. She was the wife of the late Delton Clay Glass Sr. who died in 1988. They were married for 46 years. Mildred was always giving of herself and was the backbone of the family. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great grandmother, sister-in-law and friend to many. She took care of her grandchildren, great grandchildren, father-in-law, brother-in-law, nephews, neighbors and anyone that was in need of help. Mildred worked for McDougall's Pharmacy for 59 years. She was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Sykesville since 1954, where she had taught Sunday School and Bible School. She was a Cub Scout leader, Brownie leader, and member and past president of the Bonnett Club. She took part in the minstrel shows, was a life member of V.F.W. and Westminster Moose. She was also a member of the Winfield Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. Mildred is survived by daughter and son-in-law Linda and John Laster of Winfield, son and daughter-in-law Delton and Judy Glass of Sykesville, sister-in-law Sis Glass of Sykesville, 10 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and 4 great great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her son William Jerome Glass Sr. who died in 2011, by her sister Mary Wright and by her brother-in-law Eldridge Glass. The family will receive friends on Sunday, June 18, 2017 from 2-4pm and 6-8pm at Haight Funeral Home & Chapel, 6416 Sykesville Rd., Sykesville. Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 19, 2017 at 10:00 am at the funeral home. Interment in Lake View Memorial Park, Sykesville.
