Minnie S. M. Hinkhaus, 95, of Westminster, died Friday, July 20, 2012, at the Carroll Lutheran Village Health Care Center.

Born Jan. 27, 1917, in Floyd County, Va., she was the daughter of the late John Anderson Sowers and Nannie Louemma Thompson Sowers.

Before retiring, she worked for the State of Maryland at the Rosewood Center.

She was a member of Emory United Methodist Church. She enjoyed working with crafts, sewing, quilting, baking and gardening.

Surviving are sons and daughters-in-law Arlen "Al" Mabery and Pat, of Copper Hill, Va.; Curtis L. Mabry and Janice, of Hunt Valley; grandchildren Caitlin and R. Scott Mabry; great-grandsons Joshua and Nicholas Mabry; many Thompson cousins; friends Lisa Raffetto and John H. Purnell III; and friends at Carroll Lutheran Village.

Twice married, she was predeceased by husbands Thurman Mabry and William H. Hinkhaus Sr. She was predeceased by sisters Effie Sowers and Una Conner, of Copper Hill, Va.

The family will receive friends from 10 a.m until the time of service at the Carroll Lutheran Village Krug Chapel, 300 St. Luke Circle, Westminster.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, July 24, at the chapel with the Revs. Jimmie Schwartz and Andrew Greenwood officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Finksburg.
