Miriam Wentz Hollinger, 86, of Westminster, died Friday, Sept. 27, 2013, in Manchester, at the home of her nephew Maurice and Linda Wentz, after a brief illness.

Born Sept. 14, 1927, in Carroll County, she was the daughter of the late Earl C. and Estella Coppersmith Wentz. She was the wife of Raymond L. Hollinger, who died Sept. 15, 1991.

She was a homemaker. For 29 years she worked in the cafeteria at West Middle School and retired in June 1990.

She was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 467 Auxiliary and a member of the AARP. She spent her life taking care of her son and was a member of The Arc Carroll County, an organization that she and her husband were charter members in getting organized, and she was a member of CHANGE Inc.

She was a member of St. Mary's United Church of Christ, where she enjoyed going to Bible study and the "Seniors Keeping in Touch" phone calls.

Surviving are many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by a son, William Raymond Hollinger, who died Feb. 22, 2010; and brothers Leroy C., Raymond E., Maurice W. and Norman U. Wentz.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Pritts Funeral Home & Chapel, chapel entrance, 412 Washington Road, Westminster.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, with the Rev. David Scafide, of Manchester Baptist Church, officiating. Interment will follow in St. Marys Cemetery in Silver Run.
