Nancy Lee Ewell, age 72, of Union Bridge, died Tuesday, August 16, 2016 at NMS Health Care, Hagerstown, following an extended illness. Born December 20, 1943 in Tyrone, she was the daughter of Arneda Threse Marquet Pittinger of Union Bridge and the late Charles "Ray" Pittinger. Twice married, her first husband was Byron Wayne Repp who died in 1978; her second husband was Lowell Evans "Lee" Ewell who died in 2007. Mrs. Ewell was a 1961 graduate of Francis Scott Key High School and was an active member of her graduating class reunion committee. She was formerly employed as a cafeteria aide at Elmer Wolfe Elementary School. Following the birth of her last two daughters she was a stay-at-home mother and later worked as a home health care aide. She was the long-time treasurer of the Middleburg Home Improvement Association. While she was able she enjoyed going to church and recently attended Linwood Brethren Church. She loved reading the Bible, cooking for her family, and planning and attending family gatherings. Surviving are daughters and sons-in-law, Darla and Tim Copenhaver of Taneytown, Jennifer and Joe Kirby of Union Bridge, Julie and Bill Miller of New Windsor, and Trisha and Ray Jensen of Union Bridge; step-sons, Jeffrey A. Ewell of South Carolina and Michael G. Ewell of North Carolina; grandchildren, Lindsey Repp, Austin Tracey, Morgan Miller, Colby Tracey, Travis Copenhaver, Faith Miller, Trent Copenhaver, Bethany Miller and Sadie and Simon Jensen; great-grandchildren, Lily Tracey, Aubrey Miller, twins Gabriella and William Forney, and Lucas Tracey; brother, Norman D. Pittinger and wife Alice of Union Bridge; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at Hartzler Funeral Home, 6 E. Broadway, Union Bridge on Thursday, August 18 from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Friday, August 19 at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow in St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery, Uniontown.
