Nancy Schroeder Shipley Lutz, 65, of Taylorsville, died Sunday, June 22, 2014, at home.

Born April 12, 1949, in Baltimore, she was the daughter of the late Donna Baer and the late E. Nelson Schroeder Sr. She was the wife of the late Thomas Wilson Shipley Jr., her husband of 33 years; and of James G. Lutz Jr.

She started in 1981 as a registered nurse at St. Agnes Hospital in Baltimore.

She was an active member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church and enjoyed gardening, traveling, making Ocean City memories and spending time with family and friends.

Surviving, in addition to her husband, are sons and daughter-in-law Steven T. and Laura R. Shipley, and David T. Shipley, all of Westminster; stepdaughter and son-in-law Kristin and Steve Wissig, of Sykesville; stepson and daughter-in-law Paul T. Vanderbilt and Kerstin Vanderbilt, of Berlin, Germany; a sister, Phyllis Morsberger Brandt, of Woodbine; a brother, Edwin N. Schroeder Jr., of Sydney, Australia; grandchildren Kaylee, Zoe, Emmy and Taylor Shipley, Sophie Vanderbilt, and Lillian Wissig; and an adopted granddaughter, Alessa Xenia.

A gathering of friends will be held from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home & Crematory, 1212 W. Old Liberty Road, Winfield.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Wesley Freedom United Methodist Church, 961 Johnsville Road, Sykesville.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the Ebenezer UMC Building Fund, 4901 Woodbine Road, Sykesville, MD 21784.
