Nettie Lee Keith, 90, of Westminster passed away September 7, 2017 at her home. Nettie was born in Cedar Grove, Montgomery County, Maryland on March 4, 1927. She was the daughter of the late Eldridge and Gladys (Mose) Simms and the wife of the late Melvin Ray Keith, Sr. to whom she was married for 71 years. She was a member of Stone Chapel United Methodist since 1944. She was the first woman in Stone Chapel who served as President of the Board of Trustees and also served as President of the United Methodist Women from 1970-1972. She and her husband served together as the Treasurers for the Building and Repair Fund. She enjoyed refurbishing the church and instrumental in the renovation of the kitchen and Sunday School rooms. She and her husband also furnished the counseling room as a memorial to the late Lucille Norman, a dear friend. She was recently attending Salem United Methodist Church. She enjoyed a very active life of reading, gardening, painting, tennis, counted cross-stitch, putting puzzles together and caring for her family. She attended Winfield Elementary School and graduated from Mount Airy High School in 1944. She and her husband owned Keith's Carwash on John Street in Westminster since 1971. She is survived by daughter Sharon Post and her husband. Mickey of Alexandria, Virginia; son Melvin R. Keith, Jr. (JR) and his wife Linda of Westminster; son in law Dave Smith; grandchildren Michelle Parrish, Tracie Blacksten, Carey Goonan, Michael Post and Shayna Keith; seven greatgrandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Melvin R. Keith, Sr.; daughter Carolyn Smith; and sister, Adelaide McIntire of Florida. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 12, 2017, from 2 to 4 pm and 6 to 8 pm at Pritts Funeral Home and Chapel, 412 Washington Road, Westminster. Funeral Services will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday September 13, 2017 at 11 am the funeral home with Rev. Steven Cho officiating. Interment will be at Meadow Branch Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in her name to Stone Chapel United Methodist Church, 1448 Stone Chapel Rd., New Windsor, MD 21776.
