Nicholas F. Flynn, 92, of Westminster, formerly of Silver Spring, died Sunday, March 31, 2013, at Carroll Lutheran Village Health Care Center in Westminster.

Born Feb. 15, 1921, in Boston, he was the son of the late Cornelius Flynn and Winifred Walsh Flynn. He was the husband of the late Virginia Sands Flynn, his wife of 60 years.

He worked for several federal agencies during his career with the government, including the Navy Department, IRS, and the National Archives. He served during World War II in the Army Air Corps as a second lieutenant and bombadeer. Upon his retirement he went on to have a successful career in real estate.

He was a communicant of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Silver Spring. He worked for Meals on Wheels, and enjoyed square dancing with his wife.

Surviving are children Gerard Flynn and wife Regina, of Hanson, Mass., Janet Fletcher and husband Calvin "Fletch," of Abingdon, William Flynn and wife Judith, of Hampstead, James Flynn and fiancee Lisa D'Amato, of Woodbine, and Lois Bowman and husband Glenn, of Cottage Grove, Minn.; 13 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by brothers John, Edward, Thomas, Bartholomew and Cornelius Flynn.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 91 Willis St., Westminster.

Visitation will also be held from 10 a.m. until the time of a Mass of Christian burial, 11 a.m. Friday at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 12319 New Hampshire Ave., Silver Spring, with the Rev. Y. David Brault as celebrant. Interment, with military honors, will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Silver Spring.
