Niel R. Rasmussen, 83, of Towson, died Thursday, Aug. 22, 2013, at Seasons Hospice in Randallstown.

Born April 7, 1930, in Paullina, Iowa, he was the son of the late Mourith and Trenka Rasmussen. He was the husband of Patricia Rasmussen.

He served in the Army and was a drummer with the  Army band in Germany during the Korean Conflict. He worked in sales for Mudge Paper Company.

He also was an accomplished jazz pianist. He was a coach with Catonsville Little League baseball and basketball. He was an avid golfer and Orioles fan.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are sons Tom Rasmussen and wife Rachael, of Finksburg, and Jack and wife Linda Rasmussen, of Taneytown; grandchildren Benjamin, William and Michael Rasmussen; and a sister, Neola Carlson, of Sioux City, Iowa.

He was predeceased by a brother, Leo "Lee" Rasmussen.

Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Eline Funeral Home, 11824 Reisterstown Road, Reisterstown.

A funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Interment will be in Meadowridge Memorial Park.
