Nina Virginia Martin, age 84, formerly of Union Bridge, died Saturday, January 27, 2018 at Transitions Healthcare at Sykesville, where she had been a resident for three years. Born April 24, 1933 in Taneytown, she was the daughter of the late Ephraim Samuel and Margaret Elizabeth Smith Keeney. She was the wife of Thomas B. Martin who died in 1984. Mrs. Martin was a member of the Union Bridge Church of the Brethren. She was formerly employed at H.L. Hartz, Union Bridge Clothing Co. and Joseph A. Bank. She enjoyed playing bingo, spending time with her grandchildren, reading, watching television and old movies. Surviving are son, Thomas R. Martin of Westminster; grandchildren, Thomas E. Martin Sr. and Melany A. Knott and husband David, all of Mt. Airy; and great grandchildren, McKenzy and Kelsey Wolfe, Thomas E. Martin Jr., Aubry and Kaisy Knott. She was predeceased by daughter-in-law, Sandra L. Martin and numerous sisters and brothers. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 31 at Hartzler Funeral Home, 6 E. Broadway, Union Bridge, with Pastor Sandy Evans of the Union Bridge Church of the Brethren, officiating. Interment will follow in Pipe Creek Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, January 30. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Patty Pollatos Fund for Kaisy Knott at PPF Inc. c/o Debbie Williams, 22 S. Market St., Suite 3, Frederick, MD 21701.
