Norman William Durham, 90, of Hampstead, died on Monday November 10, 2014 at his home. Born December 24, 1923 in Haddonfield, NJ, he was the son of the late Joseph and Evelyn (Mitten) Durham. He was the husband of Emilie (Middleton) Durham, his wife of 65 years. He was an Army veteran and was a member of St. George's Episcopal Church. He had been an industrial engineer with Black & Decker and Ward Machinery. Norman was a NESAP volunteer, a Carroll County Farm Museum guide, a volunteer for the Steam Into History train in New Freedom, a volunteer for the Historical Society of Carroll County and a volunteer for Meals on Wheels. He was also involved with 4-H therapeutic riding program. He enjoyed traveling and taking bus trips with his wife. Surviving in addition to his wife is daughter, Eleanor Waickwicz of Fairfax Station, VA; son, Norman C. Durham of Centreville, MD; granddaughters, Michelle Durham and Emilie Waickwicz; grandsons, Robert Durham & wife Melissa, and 2 Lt. John Waickwicz, III and wife Kimberly. Memorial services will be held on Saturday December 6, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at St. George's Episcopal church, 2434 Cape Horn Road, Hampstead, with Rev. Mario Conliffe officiating. Memorials are suggested to St. George's Episcopal Church; NESAP ,1046 South Carroll Street, Hampstead, MD 21074; or The Retreat at Beckleysville, 4224 Beckleysville Road, Hampstead, MD 21074; or to Steam Into History, 2 W.
