Pat Pumphrey, 69, of Finksburg, MD, passed away at the Dove House Hospice Center in Westminster after failing health and complications resulting from a brain injury suffered in January 2015. She was predeceased by her husband of more than 46 years, Larry U. Pumphrey. A 1966 graduate of Baltimore's Southern High School, and regular dancer on "The Buddy Deane Show", on which the movie and musical "Hairspray" was based, Pat loved to dance. Her vibrant personality and sense of humor demanded attention. She was employed as a school bus driver for Carroll County Public Schools for more than 25 years, then later with Gerstell Academy in Finksburg, MD. Outside of doting on her grandchildren, from which she derived great joy, she also considered many of the children who rode her bus to be part of her extended family, and enjoyed watching them grow up. Surviving are her younger brother, Joseph D. Nagle of Thailand, her two children, Michael T. Pumphrey of Westminster, MD, and Jeff S. Pumphrey of Ellicott City, MD, four grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, nephew Joseph Nagle, and niece Melissa Dooley. She was predeceased by her brother, Wayne M. Nagle who resided in Arizona. The family will receive friends on Friday, April 1, 2016 from 3-5pm and 7-9pm at the Haight Funeral Home & Chapel, 6416 Sykesville Road, Sykesville. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 2, 2016 at 3:00 PM at Calvary United Methodist Church, 3939 Gamber Road, Finksburg, MD, with Rev. Martin Brooks officiating.
