Paul Eugene (Genie) Williams, of Uniontown, MD, was safely wrapped in the arms of his Heavenly Father as he moved from the abundant life of this world to the life eternal of the next, on Saturday, June 20, 2015. Born on January 24, 1935 in Westminster, MD, he was the son of Chester T. and Dora Beard Williams. Shortly after leaving school to work on the family farm, Gene married Estella Petry. A year later they became the parents of Paul, Jr. and eventually Dora Jean. Gene, a licensed boiler mechanic, retired from the Carroll County School system after a career in building maintenance. Prior to retiring from Carroll County Board of Education, Genie first started his working career with the Pleasant Valley Shoe Company, then the Westminster Shoe Company and worked at Congoleum. Upon retirement, Genie increased his participation in his life-long love of cutting grass. In addition to his own lawn, he maintained the grounds of Uniontown United Methodist Church (of which he was a longtime member) and the grounds of the church cemetery. Genie also loved sitting on the porch, with a cup of coffee and a companion, talking and reminiscing while watching the world go by. A loving grandfather and great grandfather, Genie delighted in the company of his six grandchildren and his 13 great grandchildren. In addition to his wife and children and their spouses Joanne Williams and Paul Papp, Genie is survived by sisters Joan Stoner, Doris Wagner and Catherine Muhlhausen; grandchildren Catina Padgett, Danielle Green and her husband Brad, Jacob Papp and his wife Rachel, Adam Papp and his wife Heather, Hesed Chapolini and her husband Tony and Bethany Anderson and her husband Paul. The great grandchildren are: Leon Jr., Steven and Brooke Padgett; Teaghen Green; Lydia, Caleb, Anna and Peter Papp; Jonah and Luke Papp; Aiden Papp & Aria Chapolini; and Naomi Anderson. A viewing for Mr. Williams will be held on Tuesday, June 23 from 6 pm-8 pm at the Pritts Funeral Home & Chapel, 412 Washington Road, Westminster. His funeral will take place on Wednesday, June 24 at 10 am at Uniontown UMC, 3405 Uniontown Rd, Westminster, Maryland 21158. Pastor Darrell Davis of the Uniontown United Methodist Church and Pastor Paul A. Papp of the Texas United Methodist Charge will officiate. Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery.
