Paul Lawrence O'Neil, 81, died Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2012.

Born in Boston, he was the son of the late Mary and Walter O'Neil. He was the husband of Patricia Dilley O'Neil, his wife of 57 years.

He received a Bachelor of Science in Engineering Physics from the University of Maine, and he participated in the AMP at Harvard Business School.

He served honorably in the Army and retired after 36 years at Westinghouse as marketing manager of the Power Generation Services Division. He went on to a second career as senior tax adviser/instructor for 25 years at H&R Block.

He was an avid golfer, an admirer of the steam engine era, and enjoyed classical music, Pinochle, reading and puzzles. His skills on the ukulele entertained children, grandchildren and extended family. He volunteered for the West Chester Lions and other charitable organizations.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are children Julianne O'Neil, Sean O'Neil and wife Renae, Stephanie McFadden and husband Ted, and Robert O'Neil and wife Jennifer; grandchildren Luke, Ethan, Maggie, Claire, Lucy, Reese and Ainsley; brother Robert O'Neil and wife Yvonne; and many nieces and nephews in Massachusetts, Virginia, North Carolina and Colorado.

Friends may call from 9 a.m. until the time of service, 10 a.m. Monday at St. Agnes Church Chapel, 233 W. Gay St., West Chester, Pa.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Catholic Charities in support of Hurricane Sandy victims at www.catholiccharities-md.org.

Arrangements are by DellaVecchia, Reilly, Smith & Boyd Funeral Home in West Chester.
