Peggy Lou Dienst, 78, of Manchester, died Saturday, March 8, 2014, at Long View Nursing Home in Manchester.

Born Feb. 23, 1936, in Baltimore, she was the daughter of the late Charles William Dienst and Fannie Barbara Wetzelberger Dienst.

She was an active member of Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in Manchester. Prior to retirement, she was the editor of Journal of Urology for the American Urological Association. In her spare time, she had been a volunteer at Carroll Hospital Center, and enjoyed her dog, Paris, and playing Bingo.

Surviving are brother-in-law David A. Beaver Jr., of Manchester; a niece, Colleen M. Beaver, of Cockeysville; and a nephew, Charles D. "Chuck" Beaver, of Manchester.

She was predeceased by sisters Jeanne D. Beaver and Shirley B. Dienst; a nephew, Michael Craig and wife Polly Beaver; and a great-nephew, Jonathan Michael Beaver.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Eckhardt Funeral Chapel, 3296 Charmil Drive, Manchester.

Visitation will also be held from 10 a.m. until the time of a funeral service, 11 a.m. Tuesday at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church, 3184 Church St., Manchester, with her pastors, the Revs. Matthew S. and Norma L. Schenning, officiating. Interment will be in New Lutheran Cemetery in Manchester.
