Perry Silvers

Perry Silvers, 78, of Upperco, died Friday, Nov. 23, 2012, at his residence.

Born Aug. 5, 1934, in Penland, N.C., he was the son of the late Dallas and Rossie Carpenter Silvers. He was the husband of Bonnie Silvers.

He served in the Army during the Korean War. He owned and operated a logging business for 45 years. He enjoyed the outdoors, and liked hunting, NASCAR, football, collecting antiques and spending time with his family.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are sons Steven Silvers and companion Martha Mullinix, of Upperco, and Perry Christopher Silvers and wife Amber, of Reisterstown; a daughter, Stephanie Silvers, of Upperco; a grandchild, Audrey Silvers; siblings and spouses Bessie Smith and Wilma McMahon, both of Spruce Pine, N.C., Frances and Bill Pruitt, of Morganton, N.C., Louise and Bobby Bishop, of Burnsville, N.C., and Louis Dallas Silvers and Charles Silvers, both of Penland.

He was predeceased by siblings Grace Biddix, Jenny King and Maude, Roy and Paul Silvers.

The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Eline Funeral Home, 934 S. Main St., Hampstead.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Interment will be in Emory Church Cemetery in Upperco.
