Peter A. Jackson, 97, of Taneytown, passed away on August 8, 2016 at Lorien of Taneytown. He was born December 4, 1918 in Stevenston, Ayrshire, Scotland and was the son of the late Joseph P. and Margaret McAvoy Jackson. He was the loving husband of the late Sylvia E. Jackson whom he married in December 1980, and predeceased him in December 2015. He was predeceased by sisters Mary Jackson Whyatt, Elizabeth Jackson, and Margaret Jackson Trun; brothers James Jackson, Hugh Jackson, John Jackson and Joseph Jackson; and daughter-in-law Elaine Everett. He was previously married to Elaine Carpenter Jackson. Peter was a 1935 graduate of St. Thomas High School of Braddock, PA; he also attended college at Robert Morris of Pittsburgh, PA and in Baltimore. He was a veteran of the United States Army during World War II and served in North Africa, Italy, France, and Germany. He was employed as Manager of the Cashier's Office for Black & Decker Manufacturing in Towson and Hampstead, retiring in 1982. Peter was an avid golfer and volunteer at various Catholic churches. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Taneytown, MD. Surviving him are daughter Lynn Pahland of York, ME, daughter Jan and her husband Bruce Otto of Mt. Airy, daughter Mary Chandler and her fiance Ed LaGasse of Leesburg, VA and stepson John Everett of Westminster. He also leaves his beloved grandchildren Julie Eide (Eric), Michael Genrich, Mark Otto, Jennifer Perinis (Chuck), Melanie Otto, and Sandi Chandler; and ten treasured great grandchildren. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 10th from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Pritts Funeral Home and Chapel, 412 Washington Rd., Westminster. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, August 11th at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 44 Frederick St, Taneytown with Father John Lesnick as celebrant. Interment will be in St. Vincent de Paul Cemetery, 220 Third St., Hanover, PA 17331. Online condolences may be offered at
