Phyllis Caple Bowersox, 80, of Westminster, died Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2013.

Born March 26, 1933, on the family farm in Sandymount, she was the daughter of the late Kenneth G. Caple Sr. and E. Mae Hill Caple. She was the wife of John "Jack" F.D. Bowersox, her husband of 59 years.

She was a 1951 graduate of Westminster High School, and graduated from Baltimore Business College. She retired from Carroll County Public Schools as a secretary.

She was a lifetime member of Sandy Mount United Methodist Church, where she served as organist for 25 years. She enjoyed spending time with her family, friends and her neighbors at Carroll Lutheran Village.

Surviving, in addition to her husband, are children David K. Bowersox and wife Vickie, John A. Bowersox and wife Katie, and Steve W. Bowersox and wife Jayne, all of Westminster, and Leanne B. Whitestone and husband Albert, of Hanover, Pa.; sister Patricia C. Burkholder and husband David, of Westminster; brother Wayne H. Caple and wife Sharon, of Oakland; 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by brothers Ray A. Caple and K. Grady Caple Jr.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Pritts Funeral Home & Chapel, 412 Washington Road, Westminster; and from 10 a.m. until the time of service, 11 a.m. Saturday at Sandy Mount United Methodist Church, 2101 Old Westminster Pike, Westminster, with the Rev. Bob Wellman and the Rev. Bill Boyer officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
