R. Elwood Utz, age 88, of Hanover, PA passed away peacefully, Wednesday June 10, 2015 at York Hospital in York, PA. Born September 8, 1926 in York, PA, he was the son of the late Gladys Armstrong Utz and Roland E Utz. Elwood was the husband of Elvia Utz, his beloved wife of 69 years. He was a member of Grace United Church of Christ in Hanover Pa. Elwood, simply known as "Paw" to most, was known for his tremendous work ethic. Working full time in construction as an operator and later as a foreman, Elwood would return home from work, and farm late into the evenings to provide for his family. Elwood would also paint farm equipment in a small shop near Lineboro. Once Elwood retired from a career in construction and a life of farming, he enjoyed spending time with family. Never really completely retiring, Elwood continued to work and maintain the farm, build a working grist mill, help his grandchildren with 4-H projects, work in the garden, and most importantly teach life lessons to anyone who would take interest. Surviving in addition to his wife, are children: Dennis and Debbie Utz, Barb and Dennis Trump, Bill and Lisa Utz, and Steve and Sherri Utz all of Lineboro MD. In addition he is survived by grandchildren: Shawn Utz, Michael Utz, Chris Utz, Cindy Thompson, Kristine Utz, Billie Hare, Bobbie Utz, and Kevin Utz. Elwood also had 7 Great grandchildren. The family will receive friends and family 3-5 and 7-9 p.m., Friday, June 12, 2015 at the ECKHARDT FUNERAL CHAPEL, P.A., 3296 Charmil Drive, Manchester where a funeral service will be held 9:30 a.m. Saturday, June 13, 2015 with Rev.
