Ralph Franklin Weant, 91, of Frizzellburg, died Sunday morning, Aug. 18, 2013, at R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore.

Born Oct. 22, 1921, in Bruceville, he was the son of the late Raymond Cyrus and Anna Josephine Dayhoff Weant. He was the husband of Ruth May Shaner Weant, his wife of 57 years, who died in 2004.

He was a veteran of World War II, serving from December 1942 through October 1945. He spoke often of his deployment to Italy as a member of the United States Air Medical Corps. He held a variety of jobs during his life including positions at Willow Farms Dairy in Frizzellburg, Cambridge Rubber Company in Taneytown and Baugher's Restaurant & Orchard in Westminster.

He was a member of Keysville Evangelical Lutheran Church in Keysville. He enjoyed family gatherings, going to Baugher's Restaurant and watching Orioles and Ravens games at the home of friends, Bill and Lori Isenberg. He especially enjoyed reading the Bible and talking on the phone with friends every day.

Surviving are cousins Carroll Hahn, of Taneytown, Sandra Parker and Judy Seipp, of Westminster, and Lola Mathias, of Eldersburg; several other cousins; friends Bill and Lori Isenberg, of Taneytown, and their daughters, Abby, Katy and Christine; and a nephew.

He was predeceased by a brother, Donald Raymond Weant; and a sister, Audrey Lee Weant.

Friends may call from 11 a.m. until the time of service, 1 p.m. Friday at Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 136 E. Baltimore St., Taneytown, with Deacon Charles E. Barnhart Jr., pastor of Keysville Evangelical Lutheran Church, officiating. Interment will follow at Keysville Union Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Keysville Evangelical Lutheran Church, Memorial Fund, 7301 Keysville Road, Keymar, MD 21757.
