Raymond Arthur Conaway of Westminster passed away peacefully with family by his side on Wednesday, February 1, 2017, at the Dove House after a 7 year valiant battle with major health issues. He would have been 74 on February 3, 2017. Born in Woodbine, he was the son of the late Raymond and Ruth (Fleming) Conaway. Raymond was a proud member of the 1961 class of Sykesville High School. He received his Bachelors and Masters degrees in Business Administration from the University of Baltimore, and served in the U.S. Army Reserves Signal Company C from 1961-1968. Following a 33 year career as a Budget Analyst working at the Atomic Energy Commission, later the Department of Energy, Raymond retired and continued as owner of Conaway Accounting and Tax Service serving faithfully his many clients for more than 40 years. He was a member of Mt. Olive United Methodist Church, Mt. Airy, Maryland. He enjoyed hunting, helping his family whenever he could and traveling the world with his wife, family and friends. Raymond is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Linda (Condon) Conaway. Surviving in addition to his wife are sons and daughters-in-law, Ryan and Jennifer Conaway and Brant and Heidi Conaway. He was lovingly called Gramps by his dear grandchildren, Lauren, Meghan, Austin and Carson who gave him great joy. He is also survived by his sister Margaret Franklin of Mt. Airy, twin brother Richard and wife Connie Conaway of Arizona, and brother Robert and wife Pat Conaway of North Carolina, and several nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank Raymond's wonderful caregivers, Elida, Christine, and JeanAnne. Without your loving care, the last 2 years couldn't have happened. Special thanks is also extended to the doctors and staff at Carroll County Dialysis Center who for 4 years made his life continue and to the nurses of Carroll Hospital Center for caring for him many times. We are very grateful for all of you. The family will receive friends on Sunday, February 5, 2017, from 1:00-4:00 pm at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home, 1212 West Old Liberty Road, Winfield, MD, and at 10:00 am on Monday, February 6, 2017.
