Raymond Thomas Belt, 86, of Hampstead, MD passed away on May 21, 2017 at the Dove House in Westminster, MD. Born April 9, 1931 in Baltimore, MD, he was the son of the late Clarence and Helen (Holmes) Belt and the devoted husband of Norma Jean Kraus Belt with whom he shared 31 years of marriage. Ray attended Loyola College. He was a US Marine Corps Veteran, serving his country honorably during the Korean War. After completing his service, Ray worked at the AAI Corporation from 1952 until his retirement in 1991 as a Corporate 'Treasurer' Executive. Ray enjoyed training show dogs, woodworking and took great joy in sharing his carpenter skills with others. He had a delightful sense of humor, love of agriculture and horses. Ray fulfilled his lifelong dream of owning a farm where he was able to enjoy many years of sunrises and sunsets amongst the rolling hills of Hampstead with his wife Jean. Ray is preceded in death by his parents, brothers Jerome and Clayton Belt and sister Claudia Belt Schmincke. In addition to his wife Jean, he is survived by his daughter Christine Diane Graham of the late Shirley K Wright Belt; two step children Robert Allan Shaffer Jr and Cheryl Kathleen Pressley; one grandson; eight step grandchildren and five step great grandchildren; brother-in-law David Wright, Nephew Ken Belt, niece Margie Schmincke and many other loving extended family members and friends. A visitation will be held on Thursday, May 25, 2017, from 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm & 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm at Eline Funeral Home, 2901 Bloom Rd, Finksburg, MD. A Service will be held on Friday, May 26, 2017, 11:00 am at the Funeral Home. Interment will be in Evergreen Memorial Gardens. Online condolences may be made at www.elinefh.com
