Rhoda G. Sutton, 93, of Westminster, died Tuesday, April 16, 2013, at Carroll Hospice Dove House in Westminster.

Born Dec. 1, 1919, in Sutton, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Arnold and Ivy Butcher Gaston. She was the wife of the late Walter D. Sutton Jr.

She was a veteran of World War II, having served in the Navy as a registered nurse. She was of the Methodist faith. She volunteered with the March of Dimes, was a Girl Scout volunteer, school room mother, and homemaker. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, and volunteering as a greeter at Westminster Ridge.

Surviving are daughter Marion "Candy" Aaron and husband Patrick Aaron, of Westminster; a sister, Mary Lewis, of Texas; granddaughter Emily Aaron Craig and husband Jason; and great-granddaughters Lauren, Anna, and Sarah.

She was predeceased by a son, Walter "Chip" Sutton III; and siblings Edith Jordan, Jesse Gaston, Betty Lewis and Minnie Gaston.

The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. until the time of service, 3 p.m. Friday at Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 91 Willis St., Westminster, with the Rev. Jim Ball officiating. Inurnment, with military honors, will be held at a later date in Arlington National Cemetery.
