Richard Charles Stansbury, 86, of Westminster, died unexpectedly Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2014, at home.

Born June 20, 1927, in Mount Union, he was the son of the late Charles A. and Clara Hahn Stansbury. He was the husband of Hazel Krause Clatterbuck Stansbury, his wife of 13 years; of the late Catherine Kipe Stansbury, who died in December 2004; and of the late Lucille Mitten Stansbury, who died in December 1999.

He was a graduate of Elmer Wolfe High School in Union Bridge. He was a farmer in Uniontown until 1970, then worked at Farmer's Supply Company, retiring in 1987. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Uniontown until it closed Dec. 28, 2003, then became a member of Mount Union Lutheran Church.

He enjoyed working on his computer and photography.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are sons and daughters-in-law William "Bill" Stansbury Sr. and wife Beverly, Larry Stansbury and wife Helene, and Dennis Stansbury and wife Brenda; brother and sister-in-law Donald and Shirley Stansbury; four grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until the time of a funeral service, noon Monday at Krug Chapel at Carroll Lutheran Village, 300 St. Luke Circle, Westminster, with Chaplain Jimmie Schwartz officiating. Interment will follow in St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery in Uniontown.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the Ministry of Caring Endowment Fund at Carroll Lutheran Village, 300 St. Luke Circle, Westminster, MD 21158.
