Richard D. Seletzky, 74, of Manchester, died Thursday, Sept. 26, 2013, at Mercy Medical Center in Baltimore.

Born July 5, 1939, in Baltimore, he was the son of the late Dimitri and N. Elizabeth Preece Seletzky. He was the husband of Elizabeth "Bette" Myers Seletzky, his wife of 52 years.

He was a 1957 graduate of Franklin High School, and received a bachelor's degree from the University of Maryland and a master's degree from Western Maryland College.

He was past president of Hampstead Lions Club and helped start the sports program in the Hampstead Lions Club field. He taught physical education at North Carroll Middle School for 29 years where he started the Ski Club. He was the basketball coach at North Carroll High School for many years.

He was an avid vegetable farmer and flower grower. He maintained a produce stand in Hampstead for more than 20 years. Family was important to him, and he was very helpful with his special-needs granddaughter. He was an avid sportsman and especially liked hunting and skiing.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are sons Christopher R. Seletzky and wife Laurie, of Hanover, Pa., Craig R. Seletzky, of Baltimore, and Ian R. Seletzky and wife Jennifer, of Manchester; daughter Jennifer B. Seletzky-Davidson and husband Kenneth Davidson Jr., of Glenville, Pa.; sister Charlotte S. Sanders and husband James, of New Hope, Pa.; a sister-in law, Carolyn Seletzky, of Cherryfield, Maine; and grandchildren Christopher Jr., Nicholas, Grace, Jacquelyn, Ryan, Elizabeth, Shay, Matthew and Jack.

He was predeceased by a brother, Lee D. Seletzky, in 1995.

A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Monday at Eline Funeral Home, 934 S. Main St., Hampstead, with the Rev. Jeffrey Odom officiating. Interment will be private.
