Richard Forster Fields Sr., 75, of Finksburg, died Thursday, Jan. 9, 2014, at Carroll Hospital Center.

Born April 16, 1938, in Baltimore, he was the son of the late Henry T. Sr. and Edna Forster Fields. He was the husband of Fay Fields, who he married March 7, 1964.

He was a veteran of the Army, serving from 1961 to 1963 in the 82nd Airborne Division. He was a machinist for Black and Decker, retiring in 1996 after 29 years of service. He also had worked in construction.

He was a member of the American Legion Post 200. He enjoyed wood carving, building model ships, watching the Ravens and fishing in Crisfield.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are children Brenda A. Fields, of Manchester, Richard F. Fields Jr., of Hampstead, and Charles T. Fields, of Finksburg; a brother, Thomas Fields, of Finksburg; a sister, Barbara Gist, of West Virginia; a sister-in-law, Betty Kraft, of Manchester; grandchildren Lacy J. Fields, of Pennsylvania, Shelby L. Fields, of Canton, and C. Summer Fields-Donnick, of Ft. Irwin, Wash.; and a great-grandchild, Taylor G. Donnick.

He was predeceased by a brother, Henry T. Fields Jr.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Pritts Funeral Home & Chapel, 412 Washington Road, Westminster.

A funeral service will be held at 12:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Richard Holbrook, of Church of the Open Door, officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen Memorial Gardens.
