Richard "Dick" Joseph Kretzschmar, 89, of Finksburg, Maryland, died peacefully on Wednesday, September 27, 2017 at the Carroll Hospice Dove House in Westminster. Born on February 4, 1928 in Baltimore, MD, he was the son of the late Oscar C. and Anna (Clark) Kretzschmar. He was the husband of 57 years to the late Rose T. (O'Sullivan) Kretzschmar, who predeceased him in 2011. Richard was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served during the Korean War from 1950-52. His career would span over 41 years as a civil engineer with the city of Baltimore. He and his wife were faithful communicants of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Glyndon. He is survived by two sons, Frederick J. Kretzschmar, MD and wife Debbie of San Anselmo, CA and Thomas M. Kretzschmar and wife Mary Claire of Anchorage, AK; three grandchildren, Lauren Kretzschmar of San Anselmo and twins William and Anna Kretzschmar of Anchorage; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded by brothers Roland and Charles. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, October 2, 2017 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church (historic church), 65 Sacred Heart Lane, Glyndon, MD with Monsignor Lloyd Aiken as celebrant. Burial will follow in All Saints Cemetery in Reisterstown, MD. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 2-6 p.m. at the MYERS-DURBORAW FUNERAL HOME, 91 Willis Street, Westminster.
