Richard Edward Miller, Sr., 79, of Hampstead, MD passed away on December 2, 2016. Born November 4, 1937 in Manchester, MD, he was the son of the late Walter and Laura (Bailey) Miller and the beloved husband of Marcia Jean Miller. He was a graduate of Manchester High Class of 1955. After high school Richard served in the US Navy as a Radio Operator. After the Navy Richard served in the Maryland State Police and then went on to become Chief of Security for General Motors in Baltimore. Richard also was a car salesman for the W. H. Davis Company and had an earlier stint as a real estate agent at Burke Agency. Richard served the City of Hampstead on the City Council and as Elected Mayor of Hampstead. He was a member of Masonic Lodge 145 of Reisterstown, and the Rotary Club of Hampstead. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. Richard is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers: Walter Miller and George Miller. In addition to his loving wife of 53 years, Richard is survived by his son, Richard Edward Miller, Jr. and wife Pam of Hanover, PA; two daughters: Deanna Berger and husband John of Hampstead, MD, Barbara Redon and husband Bill of Hampstead, MD; grandson, Ryan Redon; four granddaughters: Lauren Miller, Anna Berger, Sara Berger, Rachel Berger; brother, Donald Miller and wife Robin of Manchester, MD and sister, Arlene Dorney of Conifer,CO. A gathering of family and friends will be held on Saturday, December 10, 2016 from 11:00am to 1:00pm followed by a celebration of Richard's life at 1:00pm at Eline Funeral Home, 934 South Main Street, Hampstead, MD.
