Richard Paul "Dick" Reese, 72, of Westminster passed away Friday morning, February 27, 2015 at the Carroll Hospice Dove House after a courageous 3 year battle with cancer. Born January 30, 1943, in Baltimore, he was the son of the late Richard E. and Dorothy M. (Shortt) Reese. He was the husband of Catherine "Cathy" Reese, his wife of 53 years. After graduating from Towson High School in 1960, he attended University of Maryland College Park. He enjoyed a life-long career in land development contracting, including A.G. Parrott, C.J. Miller and H.T.I.. He was awarded the Land Development Contractor of the Year Award in 2006 by the Maryland Home Builders Association. An avid sports participant and coach, he coached Sandymount soccer and basketball, spent many years officiating high school and college soccer, and he was an avid golfer. He and his wife became accomplished ballroom and country dancers. Surviving in addition to his loving wife are his beloved children, Melanie Turnbaugh and husband David of Hunt Valley, Scott Reese and wife Melinda of Glenville, PA, and Greg Reese and wife Megan of Spring Grove, PA; grandchildren Tory, Michael and Mary Katherine, 2 younger sisters and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 4 to 7pm at the PRITTS FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 412 Washington Rd., Westminster. A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday at 2pm at Church of The Ascension, 23 N. Court St., Westminster, with Rev. William Boyer and the Rev. Barbara Sears, officiating. Private interment will be held at Dulaney Valley Memorial Gardens, at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his memory to Carroll Hospice Dove House, 292 Stoner Ave., Westminster, MD 21157.
