Mr. Richard Cover Pfoutz, 80, of Bel Air, died Tuesday, August 26, 2014 at Bel Air Health and Rehabilitation Center, after an extended illness. Born November 7, 1933 in Maryland, he was the son of the late Monroe R. and Lu Ellen Cover Pfoutz.Twice married, his first wife was the late Patricia Baer Pfoutz who died in 2002. His second wife was the late Patricia Hartzler Pfoutz who died in 2013. Mr. Pfoutz was a 1952 graduate of Elmer Wolfe High School, Union Bridge, then attended Mercersburg Academy prior to joining the Air Force. After his discharge from the service he resided in Columbus, OH and worked for AT & T until retiring in 1986. He returned to Maryland in 2003. He was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church, Bel Air and was a member of the Masonic Lodge. Surviving are daughter, Lisa Jones and husband Mitch of Columbus; granddaughter, Holly and husband James; grandsons, Kyle and Nathan Terry; great grandson Aidan; 3 other daughters, Donna, Dottie and Debbie; 10 other grandchildren, 14 other great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren of Ohio and Minnesota; brother, Thomas D. Pfoutz and wife Susan of Taneytown; sister-in-law, Edith Pfoutz of Union Bridge and nieces and a nephew. He was predeceased by a brother, Robert W. Pfoutz in 2013. Friends may call at Hartzler Funeral Home, 6 E. Broadway, Union Bridge, Friday, August 29 from 8:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m. Officiating will be Rev. Steve Poole, his pastor. Interment will be in Pipe Creek Cemetery, near Linwood. Memorial contributions may be made to the Oak Grove Baptist Church, 2106 Churchville Rd., Bel Air, MD 21015.
