Richard Frank "Rich" Schreck, 74, of Westminster, Maryland died peacefully Friday, December 12, 2014 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Born January 10, 1940 in Reisterstown, he was the son of the late Alfred and Bessie Constantine Schreck. He was the husband of Ruth Anna Miller Schreck, to whom he was married for 50 years. Rich was a 1958 graduate of Franklin High School in Reisterstown. He was a sub-assembly foreman at Black and Decker Corporation in Hampstead, where he worked for 27 years. He was also employed as a maintenance technician at Harney Woodworking for 5 years and as an assembler at Omega International in Westminster for 6 years. Rich was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps and served as an ordinance instructor at the Marine Corps Base in Quantico, VA. He was a member of Meadow Branch Church of the Brethren in Westminster. He was a proud member of the National Rifle Association, and enjoyed target shooting, hunting, and fishing. He also enjoyed gunsmithing and was a master gunsmith and craftsman. He loved spending time with his family and playing with his grandsons. Surviving in addition to his wife are sons, Mark Schreck and wife Tammy, and Matthew Schreck and wife Janet, all of Westminster; sisters, Nancy Boynton of Warrenton, VA, and Martha Hudson of Frederick; grandsons, Jarrett, Alex, and Christopher; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by brother, George, and sisters, Gertrude, Margaret, and Madeline. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, December 17 at Meadow Branch Church of the Brethren, 818 Old Taneytown Rd, Westminster, MD, with Pastor Tom Richard officiating. The family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 91 Willis St, Westminster, MD and from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the church on Wednesday. Interment will follow at Meadow Branch Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Meadow Branch Church of the Brethren, 818 Old Taneytown Rd, Westminster, MD, 21157.
