Robert Allen Atkinson, 70, of Manchester, died Monday, Aug. 13, 2012, at Carroll Hospice's Dove House in Westminster.

Born Dec. 5, 1941, in Baltimore, he was the son of the late Thomas Allen and Mildred Shribher Atkinson.

He had served in the Army during the early 1960s. He was of the Catholic faith; and enjoyed fishing and hunting.

Surviving are sons and daughters-in-law Robert A. Atkinson Jr., of Finksburg, Bradd and Monica Atkinson, of Glenville, Pa., and Brody and Michelle Atkinson, of Manchester; and grandchildren Shawna, Braden, Bryce, Brody Jr. and Cole.

A Memorial Mass will be held at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday at St. Bartholomew's Catholic Church, 2930 Hanover Pike, Manchester, with the Rev. Michael Roach officiating. Casual attire requested by family. Interment will be in Garrison Forest Veterans Cemetery at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Carroll Hospice Dove House, 292 Stoner Ave., Westminster, MD 21157; or to St. Bartholomew's Catholic Church, P.O. Box 448, 2930 Hanover Pike, Manchester, MD 21102.

Arrangements are by Eline Funeral Home in Hampstead.
