Robert "Bob" Delmar Kirkland, 74 passed away on March 15, 2017 at his home. Born May 31, 1942 he was the son of the late Paul F. and Ruth McCullum Kirkland. In addition to his parents Bob was preceded in death by his loving wife Doris, numerous brothers and sisters, nephew Johnathan Tidd and a son in law David J. Montgomery. Bob proudly served his nation in the US Navy during the Vietnam Conflict. Bob was truly a people person who loved to help others and it showed both throughout his professional career as well as personal life through involvement in many community organizations. Bob started a career with the State of Maryland Parole and Probation Drunk Driving Monitor program. Upon retirement from the state, he became employed with Mountain Manor Treatment Centers as a Court Liaison. Throughout his career Bob helped many people turn their lives around for the better in the face of addiction. Bob's love of helping others didn't end when the work day did as he was involved is so many activities. He was an active member of Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church where he served on the Board of Trustees, a member of the Westminster Elks Lodge actively involved in the alcohol and drug awareness program, a judge for various entries in 4-H programs at area fairs, assistant leader of Baltimore county 4-H rabbit club, 4-H All Stars program, Hereford Volunteer Fire Company member, life member of Baltimore County Fair Board, member of American Legion Post #200, and even chaperoned his Grandson John's senior prom. Surviving are his son Robbie Kirkland, daughter Robin Montgomery, grandson John David McElroy Jr., brother James & Patricia Kirkland, and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. Bob had a big heart and cared for everyone he met, and while he is gone he will never forgotten. Rest in peace, Dad. The family will receive friends at Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church: 15300 Dover Rd. Reisterstown, MD 21136 on April 20, 2017 from 3 to 7 P.M.; a memorial service will be held April 21, 2017 at the church at 10 A.M. with inurnment following in the Pleasant Grove Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to the Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church. Bob's care has been entrusted to Black's Funeral Home of Westminster. Online condolences at
