Robert Eugene Trimmer Sr., 64, of Union Bridge, died unexpectedly Monday, April 27, 2015 at his home. Born July 11, 1950 in Frederick County, he was the son of the late Charles and Thelma Biddinger Trimmer. He was the husband of Deborah J. Wantz Trimmer, who predeceased him in 2013. Following high school Mr. Trimmer joined the U.S. Marine Corps in 1968 for four years, serving in Vietnam. He was formerly employed with Moore Business Forms, Thurmont, retiring after 25 years. He then worked for Food Lion in Thurmont for 10 years and Giant Foods at Monocacy until 2013. He was a life member of VFW Post 8806, Union Bridge, where he had served as Quartermaster for numerous years and was a past commander. He was also a member of the Glenn W. Eyler Post 282 American Legion, Woodsboro and AMVETS Post 7, Thurmont. He enjoyed sitting on his front porch and drinking a cold Pabst while watching the neighborhood. Surviving are daughter, Hope Green and companion, David Ford of Sugarloaf Key, FL; son, Robert E. Trimmer Jr. and wife, Heather of Catawba, SC; four grandchildren, Jacob, Wesley, Brittany and Tiffany; siblings, Charlotte Shaffer of Union Bridge, Earl Trimmer of Finksburg, Paul Trimmer of Vero Beach, FL, Donald Trimmer of Woodsboro, Pauline Heininger of Harrisburg, PA, Barbara Christie of Indianapolis, IN; and many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at Hartzler Funeral Home, 6 E. Broadway, Union Bridge, on Friday, May 1 from 5 to 7:30 p.m., where a brief remembrance service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Rev. Richard L. Michael will officiate. A private military interment service will be held in Blue Ridge Cemetery, Thurmont. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, KA 66675.
