Robert George Jaharias, 83, of Sykesville, died Friday, Feb. 8, 2013, at home.

Born March 9, 1929, in Frederick, he was the son of the late George and Edith Jacobs Jaharias. He was the husband of Samaria Lee Poe Jaharias, his wife of nearly 65 years.

He was an installation supervisor for Western Electric/ AT&T Technology for nearly 40 years. He was very active in his church for 40 years, holding every position of leadership during these years, including filling in for the Pastor.

He was an avid gardener, known to have an immaculate yard. He and his wife enjoyed RVing across America and spending weeks in Florida during the winter. He enjoyed restoring antique phones from the early 1900s and had restored a 17-room farm house.

He was also enjoyed driving his antique cars in parades; and in addition to spending time with his children, he especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are children Beth Jaharias Zinkland, of Perry Hall, Roben Jaharias Sanders and husband Donald Sanders, of Sykesville, George Jay Jaharias and wife Wilma Campbell Jaharias, of Farmersville, Texas; grandchildren Adam Donald Sanders and wife Lauren Nichole Sanders, Kristen Tyler Jaharias, Master at Arms Petty Officer 3rd Class USN and Jacob Heath Jaharias.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home & Crematory, 1212 W. Old Liberty Road, Winfield.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Judy Emerson of Ebenezer United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery in Frederick.
