Robert L. Immler, 91, of Westminster, died Thursday, May 31, 2012, at Longview Nursing Home in Manchester.

Born Feb. 1, 1921, in Baltimore, he was the son of the late Howard M. L. and Thelma Keyser Immler. He was the husband of Evelyn Eva Frock Immler, of Littlestown, Pa., his wife of 68 years.

After high school he joined the Navy, where he was a carpenter's mate first class. He served in Bermuda on board the USS LST 573. After World War II he worked for 29 years for Koontz Creamery in Baltimore as a route foreman. He then worked for Carroll County General Hospital after 18 years in the maintenance department as a carpenter and stationary engineer, retiring in 1986.

He was an active member of Krider's United Church of Christ, where he served on the church counsel, served as a Sunday school teacher and superintendent and was also a deacon and elder. He enjoyed his retirement, taking care of his home, yard and garden. He was also former member of Carroll Post American Legion 31.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are sons and daughters-in-law Robert W. and Sharon L. Immler, of Westminster, and Thomas B. and Carol A. Immler, of Finksburg; a sister, H. Elizabeth Hendrix, of Glen Bernie; grandchildren and spouses Brian W. and Julie A. Immler, Cathy M. and Michael J. Franek, Jearld T. and Jennifer A. Immler, and Eric D. and Erica L. Immler; and great-grandchildren Alexis M. and Madison L. Franek, Emily M., Andrew J. and Mason C. Immler.

The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until the time of service, 3 p.m. Monday at Pritts Funeral Home and Chapel, 412 Washington Road, Westminster, with the Rev. Ray Shutt officiating. Interment will follow in Krider's United Church of Christ Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Krider's United Church of Christ, 208 Krider's Church Road, Westminster, MD 21158; or to the Church of the Open Door, 550 Baltimore Blvd., Westminster, MD 21157.
