Robert Leon Meekins, 87, of Arnold, formerly of Owings Mills, died Wednesday, March 5, 2014, at Carroll Hospital Center.

Born May 9, 1926, in Stevensville, he was the son of the late Norman L. and Grace Meekins. He was the husband of Maxine Wagner Meekins; and the late Edna Elizabeth Meekins.

He was a World War II Army veteran and had worked as a mechanic with Meekins Construction. He was a life member of the Owings Mills Volunteer Fire Department and an active member of Trinity United Methodist Church of Annapolis.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are daughters Patricia E. and husband Robert Schwartz, of Hampstead, and Deborah A. and husband Keith "Buddy" Gill, of Finksburg; sons Robert A. and wife Kimbra J. Meekins, of Westminster, and Daniel E. and wife Lisa R. Meekins, of Hampstead; six grandsons; one great-granddaughter; and several step-children, step grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by brothers Norman W. and William J. Meekins.

The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at Eline Funeral Home, 11824 Reisterstown Road, Reisterstown.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Interment will be in Evergreen Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the Owings Mills Volunteer Fire Department, 10401 Owings Mills Blvd., Owings Mills, MD 21117.
