Robert "Bobby" Allen Miller, 68, of Union Bridge, died peacefully Monday, May 4, 2015 at his home, after a 6-year battle with ALS. Born November 12, 1946 in Gettysburg, PA, he was the son of the late Wilbur F. "Mose" Jr. and Virginia Dayhoff Miller. He was the husband of Karen Forney Miller, his wife of 47 years. Bobby was a 1964 graduate of Taneytown High School and served in Army. He was owner/operator of Miller Trucking Company for more than 20 years, and retired from Ferrellgas as a transport driver. He was a member of the Glen W. Eyler American Legion Post 282, Woodsboro, and the Monocacy Lodge #203 AF&AM, Taneytown. He was an honorary member of the Taneytown Volunteer Fire Company, where he fried chicken for their carnival for many years. Bobby enjoyed taking his grandson in the truck with him, and spending time with his family and friends, especially his graduating class. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are daughter, Robin Miller Bloom and Stefan Hoffnagle of Union Bridge; grandson, Carter Thomas Bloom of Union Bridge; sisters, Beverly Bales and husband, Larry, Susan Devilbiss, and Martha Shorb, all of Taneytown; brother, Ronald L. Miller of Gulfport, Miss; special uncle, Calvin Hoy; a number of nieces, nephew, cousins, great-nieces and great-nephews; and Jake Wenhold, whom he regarded as another grandson. He was predeceased by his brother-in-law, Jerry Devilbiss. The family will receive friends at Hartzler Funeral Home, 6 E. Broadway, Union Bridge on Thursday, May 7 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home Friday at 11 a.m. Rev. Richard L. Michael and Deacon Charles Barnhart will officiate.
