Robert Ralph Bowman, 87, of Hanover, passed away on Tuesday, January 3, 2017 at Homewood at Plum Creek. Born on July 30, 1929 in Silver Run, he was the son of the late Ralph Dodrer and Anna Katherine Strevig Bowman. Robert was the husband of Dorothy Roselie Boose Bowman, his wife of 61 years. Robert was the owner and president of R.D. Bowman and Sons, Inc. He was a 1946 graduate of Westminster Senior High School and was a veteran of the United States Army serving from 1953 to 1955. Robert was a member of St. Mary's Lutheran Church in Silver Run, a Third Degree Master Mason with the Door to Virtue Lodge #46 and a Shriner of the Boumi Temple. Robert's hobby was his work. Surviving in addition to his wife are children and spouses Dale R. and Jeanne Bowman, Dawn D. and Vince DeVivo, and Dirk R. and Julie Bowman, all of Westminster; grandchildren Tyler, Connor, Grant, and Paige and 2 nieces. He was predeceased by brother Edward M. Bowman. Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 9, 2017 at 11:00 am at St. Mary's Lutheran Church, 3978 Littlestown Pike, Westminster with his pastor Rev. Dr. H. Lee Brumback, II officiating. Interment with military honors will be in St. Mary's UCC Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday, January 8, 2017 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm. at Pritts Funeral Home and Chapel, 412 Washington Rd., Westminster, where a Masonic service will be held at 3:00 pm. The family will also receive friends one hour prior to the service starting at 10:00 am at St. Mary's Lutheran Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Robert's name to St. Mary's Lutheran Church, 3978 Littlestown Pike, Westminster, MD 21158 or to Homewood at Plum Creek, Benevolent Fund, 425 Westminster Ave., Hanover, PA 17331.
