Robert Lee Trout, age 70, of Gettysburg, PA, died Sunday, March 26, 2017 at Carroll Hospice Dove House after a brief illness. Born January 9, 1947 in Gettysburg, he was the son of the late Charles Josiah and Anna Mae Kiser Trout. He was the husband of Patricia Stonesifer Trout, his wife of 50 years. Bob was a 1965 graduate of Francis Scott Key High School and following graduation he worked on his parents' dairy farm in Keymar. In April, 1972 he and Patsy moved to Keysville and started dairy farming, retired in 1999 and moved to Gettysburg. Bob then worked for M.R. Pfoutz & Sons of Union Bridge and later with Carroll County Public Schools as a custodian, retiring June 30, 2014. He was a member of Keysville Lutheran Church, formerly served on the church council and from 1973 until the time of his death maintained the church clock. Bob lived life to the fullest, always with a smile and he loved spending time sharing his childhood memories with his family and friends, repairing clocks, woodworking, antiquing, gardening, watching Westerns and helping others. He was a member of the National Association of Watch and Clock Collectors, Inc. and formerly served on the board of Southern States. In addition to his wife, he is survived by children, Douglas Trout Sr. and Vickie; Lura Walls and husband Charles Sr. (Chaz) and Peggy Costas and husband Yancey, all of Taneytown; Jeffery Trout and wife Shawn of Keysville and Dr. James Trout of Green Valley, AZ; 8 grandchildren, Katie Trout, Charles Walls Jr., Douglas Trout Jr., Allison Costas, William Trout, Mitchell Costas, Jacob Trout and Garrett Walls; great granddaughter, Riley Trout; a brother, Dean M. Trout and wife Lois of Keymar; sisters-in-law, Lisa Trout of Waynesboro, TN, Stephanie Ward and Shelly Schaeffer and husband Dave, all of Taneytown and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a grandson, Josiah Trout in 2007 and a brother, Dale M. Trout in 2013. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 31 at Keysville Lutheran Church, with church pastor, Deacon Charles Barnhart and former pastor, Rev. James Russell, officiating. Interment will follow in Union Cemetery, Keysville. The family will receive friends at Hartzler Funeral Home, 404 S. Main St., Woodsboro, 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, March 29 and 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday, March 30.
