Robert Wayne Pfoutz, 76, of Union Bridge, died Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2013, at home.

Born April 17, 1937, in Union Bridge, he was the son of the late Monroe R. and Margret Luellen C. Pfoutz. He was the husband of Edith S. Pfoutz.

He was a 1955 graduate of Elmer A. Wolfe High School and worked in the family business for 56 years until his retirement.

He was a spiritual man who was known for his spirited personality and quick smile. His favorite times were times with family and friends.

He answered an alter call and accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. He was a servant of his local community, and in 2001 he and his wife reached out to the community of Jolo, W.Va.

He enjoyed deer hunting, flying his single engine plane, ocean vacations, listening to the bagpipers and Gospel music; his favorite hymn was "Amazing Grace".

He was known to have a gift for words and rhymes; and liked sending his grandchildren on scavenger hunts.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are son Todd W. Pfoutz; daughters and sons-in-law Cynthia P. and Jonathan D. Bubel, of Union Bridge and Lori P. and Timothy J. Platter, of Keymar; brothers Richard C. Pfoutz and daughter Lisa, and Thomas D. Pfoutz and wife Susan, and their daughter Evelyn; a granddaughter, Lindsay A. Bubel; and grandsons Eric V. Pfoutz and wife Ryan, and Travis J. Platter.

Services and interment will be private.

Cremation arrangements were handled by Pritts Funeral Home & Chapel in Westminster.
