Roger Lee Purdum, 86, of Silver Spring, died Sunday, Jan. 27, 2013, at home.

Born May 25, 1926, in Cedar Grove, he was the son of the late James Elliott and Dora Johnson Purdum. He was the husband of the late Evelyn Roberts Purdum.

He received a Master of Commercial Science degree from Strayer College in Washington, D.C. He served two years in the Army in Europe during World War II,  worked four years for Southern Dairies, and served as treasurer of Electro-Therm for 34 years.

Surviving are children Ronald R. Purdum, of Union Bridge, and Gail Kampmeier Champagne, of Urbana, Ill.; a grandson, Ronald Scott Purdum, of Union Bridge; and a brother, James Ray Purdum, of Damascus.

He was predeceased by sisters Mary Ferguson and Grace Halbert.

Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Molesworth-Williams Funeral Home, 26401 Ridge Road, Damascus.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Interment will be held at 1 p.m. Friday in the Maryland Veterans Cemetery in Crownsville.
