The Reverend Roland M. "Bud" Brown, III, age 68, of Westminster, passed away on Tuesday, June 7, 2016, at Carroll Hospice Dove House, Westminster. Born September 12, 1947, in Washington, DC he was the son of the late Roland Myers Brown, Jr. and Loretto Loveless Brown Wyatt. He was the husband of Carolyn L. Aldrich Brown. They were married on June 13, 1981. Rev. Brown was a 1974 graduate of West Virginia Wesleyan College, Buckhannon, WV. In 1976, he received his Masters of Divinity from Wesley Theological Seminary, Washington, DC. He then became a full time pastor serving Piney Grove United Methodist Church, Baltimore, Rodgers Forge United Methodist Church, Baltimore and the last 26 years of his career at St. Paul's and Gaither United Methodist Churches, Sykesville, where he retired in 2013. Bud had been the chaplain for Carroll Hospice, Sykesville-Freedom District Fire Department and Sykesville Police. He was involved in the beginning of ESCAPE ministries. He was a member of the Sykesville-South Carroll Rotary Club and the Masonic Lodge. Bud was an avid reader and most especially enjoyed spending time with his family. Surviving in addition to his wife are daughter and son-in-law; Lorilyn and Nathaniel Linger of Morgantown, WV; sisters and brothers-in-law, Lynn and Paul Groover of Heathsville, VA and Donna and Jack Blazek of Woodbine; brother and sister-in-law, Jay and Kayla Wyatt of Alaska and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Malcolm and Marilyn Aldrich of Hanover, PA. The family will receive friends on Sunday, June 12, 2016 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8pm at the Haight Funeral Home & Chapel, 6416 Sykesville Road, Sykesville. A memorial service will be held on Monday, June 13, 2016 at 7pm St. Paul's United Methodist Church, 7538 Main Street, Sykesville with pastors, Rev. Terri Rae Chattin, Rev. Douglas Tzan and Rev. Vivian McCarthy officiating. Interment will be private. Those desiring may make memorial donations to UMCOR (United Methodist Committee on Relief), 475 Riverside Drive, Room 1520, New York, NY 10115 or to ESCAPE Ministries, 5600 Washington Road, Sykesville, MD 21784.
