Ronald James Billings, 73 of New Windsor, died Thursday, September 4, 2014 at Carroll Hospice Dove House in Westminster. Born August 28, 1941 in Roanoke, Virginia, he was the son of the late James Lee and Mildred Louise Looney Billings. He was the husband of Josephine Billings of New Windsor, to whom he would have been married to for 44years on September 26th. Ron was an auto mechanic for many years and changed professions to sales of auto testing equipment, and later selling campers. He enjoyed talking with people and going camping with others. As he battled his illness, camping and travel became less and less. He enjoyed the many cruises he went on with family and friends. One last wish was to go on a cruise again and when he returned he weakened very quickly. His greatest escape from everyone was his garage. He had a great love for his pet cats. As a Grandpop he loved his grandchildren and the joys of the things they did. He was so very proud of his son and the family he has. When it came to food and cooking he was there to do both. He loved the cars and music from the 1950's and 1960's. Surviving in addition to his wife are son and daughter-in-law Brian and Melissa Billings of Loganville, PA, grandchildren Dylan, Aaron, and Haley, brothers and sisters-in-law Joseph and Virginia Battaglia, and Thomas and Trudie Battaglia, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Barbara Lee Hahn and by his brother-in-law Charles William Battaglia. Services and interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Carroll Hospice Dove House, 292 Stoner Ave., Westminster, MD 21157 or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
