Ronald James Akers, 65 of Taneytown, died Saturday, January 3, 2015 at his home. Born November 15, 1949 in West Friendship, he was the son of the late Burgess W. and Etta Mae Bozzell Akers. He was the husband of Toni Lyn Akers. He had worked in construction for many years. Surviving in addition to his wife are daughters and sons-in-law Bridget and Jason Basso of Sykesville, Angela Fosdick of Sykesville, and Megan and Kevin Crabtree of Crofton, brothers Burgess Akers of California, and Bill Akers of Taneytown, sisters Gloria Kopp of Smithsburg, and Marie Godlove of Florida, special friend and nephew Mark Stapleton, 10 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at the Haight Funeral Home & Chapel, 6416 Sykesville Rd., Sykesville on Thursday from 6-8pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to , 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
