Roxanna Cecilia Summers, 88, of Taneytown, died Saturday, Jan. 4, 2014, at home.

Born April 25, 1925, in New Windsor, she was the daughter of the late Edwin Stitley and Larie Cover Stitley. She was the wife of Melvin B. Summers Sr., who died Nov. 29, 1994.

She was a lifelong farmer and enjoyed collecting ceramic cows, salt and pepper shakers and M&M's.

Surviving are children Melvin B. Summers Jr., of Taneytown, Daniel D. Summers, of Littlestown, Pa., Bertha F. Emerson, of Littlestown, Wilma L. Caudill and husband Terry, of Taneytown, Mildred L. Hoffman and husband Wayne, of Westminster, and Robert E. Summers Sr. and wife Sharon, of Taneytown; grandson Thomas Barnhouse, whom she raised, of Taneytown, and his fiancee Cindy Wagner; a caregiver, Debbie Kline; 15 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and 13 great-great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by a daughter, Carrie M. King; brothers Francis and Jake Stitley; a son-in-law Mitchell E. Emerson; daughters-in-law Sandra L. and Ann Marie Summers; and a grandson, Duane Barnhouse.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Fletcher Funeral & Cremation Services, 254 E. Main St., Westminster.

A funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with Deacon Charles Barnhart officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen Memorial Gardens.
