Royce "Dizzy Dean" Renfro, age 85 of Manchester, MD died suddenly Sunday Jan. 10, 2016 at his home. Born June 29, 1930 in Bakersville, North Carolina he was the son of the late Roy and Bonnie Cleo Honeycutt Renfro. He was the husband of Barbara Ruth Markle Renfro. Years ago, he worked at NAPA Auto Parts. He had also been a salesman and auto mechanic for heavy equipment. He was an Airforce Veteran. He loved auto racing and had raced at 40 different speedways, he had also been a show director for 17 years at the Motorama and was active at the Eastern Museum of Auto Racing in York Springs, PA. In 2011 Diz was inducted into the A.R.C.H. Racing Hall of Fame. Surviving in addition to his wife are children, Dale Renfro of Upperco, MD., Glen Renfro of Hanover, PA., Berry Hesson of Hanover, PA., Todd Renfro of Lineboro, MD, Troy Renfro of Iowa and a step daughter, Wanda Shull of Hanover, PA. He was also survived by 10 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by sisters, Rosa Folkenroth, Florence Burgess and Brenda Bailes. The family will receive friends on Thursday Jan. 14, 2016 from 3-5 and 7-9pm. at the ECKHARDT FUNERAL CHAPEL P.A., 3296 Charmil Drive, Manchester, MD. where funeral services will be held Friday at 10:00am. with the Rev. Sam Chamelin officiating. Interment will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Eastern Museum of Auto Racing in York Springs, PA.
